Founded in 2011, Dance Heginbotham is celebrated for its vibrant athleticism, humor, and theatricality, as well as its commitment to collaboration. Well-known for his 14-year tenure as a dancer with Mark Morris Dance Group, Artistic Director John Heginbotham creates work known for its “tight formal structure and inventive movement, bolstered by a disarming wit and strangeness” (The New Yorker). The program at PS21 includes:

Waltz Ending – a guided tour of Scott Joplin’s beautiful, varied Harmony Club Waltz. A bittersweet solo featuring a chorus of six interrupters.

Diamond – a solo dance to music by Darius Milhaud performed live on stage

Twin – Twin was developed in residence at the Baryshnikov Arts Center with music by Apex Twin (Richard David James) an Irish-born British electronic musician and composer.

Rockefellers – a charmingly witty duet to music Raymond Scott, Manhattan Research, Inc.

“…a strong choreographic personality – a refreshing mixture of casualness and discipline, lunacy and sincerity…” -The New Yorker

“… tempered energy, effortless charm and droll wit…” – San Francisco Chronicle

This performance is part of the New York State Presenters Network Presenter-Artist Partnership Project made possible through a regrant from the New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
