(1949, 98 min.) In this comedy starring Paul Douglas, Linda Darnell and Celeste Holm, a businessman’s wife (Holm) wants to become an opera star but fails due to her lack of talent. When an opera star (Darnell) discovers that the husband (Douglas) has a marvelous singing voice, she hires him to go on tour with her under an assumed name. Darnell sings stretches of an imaginary opera, L’Amore di Fatima – music by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco. Douglas sings a musical setting of the Rudyard Kipling poem Mandalay and the Toreador Song from Carmen.
