Rory Block, a master of the blues slide technique, is offering an inspiring workshop on the use of the bottleneck to create the soulful steel slide guitar sound, which started in the Mississippi Delta by such legendary greats as Son House and Robert Johnson.
“Anyone who knows the basics of guitar playing and wants to understand slide techniques is welcome. If one is more advanced one would probably be playing along, where newer players with less experience can be introduced to the techniques and ways to put them to use through practice. My goal is for everyone to gain what they need according to their ability. The slide style I play is most often associated with blues, in particular early American blues in the style of RobertJohnson, for instance. However, the technique and style can be applied to any kind of music — the sky is the limit where creativity is concerned. This workshop is specifically for guitar. Please bring a slide, an acoustic guitar and a capo.”
This workshop will be held at ChurchLIVE; The Old Methodist Church 8 Church Lane, Chatham Center NY 12184
