West African Dance and Drum Workshop

Ages: 9-18

Choreographer/dancer Jamal Jackson and drummer Frank Malloy IV have taught this popular workshop for three summers at PS21. Participants learn a traditional dance from Mali, explore new ways to create movement within this dance, and present a public performance. As part of the daily activities kids take a cooking class in which they make their own lunches using local food. Students receive free passes to PS21 dance performances.

Meets at the PS21 Dance Studio, 3016 Route 66, Chatham. The workshop culminates in a performance on the PS21 stage.

Advance registration is required.
