Parsons Dance Returns to PS21 for Four-Week Dance Residency, July 10-August 5
[CHATHAM, NY] PS21: Performance Spaces for the 21st Century once again hosts New York City-based Parsons Dance in a summer residency. From July 10 through August 5, 2017 Parsons Dance will be living and working right here in Chatham, NY. During this time the company will be creating new work, as well as studying, teaching, and performing. The residency will include several Modern Dance Workshops at The Barn Studio at PS21, as well as two open rehearsals, an afternoon performance just for kids, and two evening performances at The Tent at PS21. The residency is made possible thanks to a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts.
“This is the twelfth consecutive season that the world-famous Parsons Dance will have performed at PS21, and it’s their second season in residency here,” remarked PS21 Board President Judy Grunberg. “The Company members have each become part of the extended PS21 family. One of the goals of the residency is to reach new audiences through activities beyond the ticketed performances. Parsons Dance will be opening their doors to the public so they can witness the creative process.”
“Chatham feels like a home to us. The community has opened it arms to us—our relationships have grown over the years, and it is wonderful to dance for our friends in Chatham,” said Parsons Dance General Manager Rebecca Josue. “The PS21 facilities—the barn studio and tent in the orchard—are inspiring.”
