Branché, by Acting for Climate Montreal, is spectacular celebration of nature and the power of community. Presented by PS21 among Crellin Park’s rocks, trees, and groves, eight acrobat-dancers lift, climb, fly, and jostle in a striking display of human harmony with and stewardship of our natural environment.
Acting for Climate Montréal was founded in 2019 with a mission to work towards a sustainable future by combining performing arts and environmentalism. The group reimagines the practice of circus art to find concrete solutions to environmental challenges. Through performances in nature the artists reconnect with the local environment and lead spectators to perceive the nature around them in new light, to marvel at its beauty and fragility and therefore to protect it. By advocating mutual aid and the strength of community, they inspire their audiences to public action.
AUGUST 9–10, 1:30 PM
The performers demonstrate and teach the movements, techniques, and exercises that underpin Branché and their other works. The workshops begin with simple exercises focusing on the children and their inner states and progress toward collective group awareness that creates and promotes group cohesion and teamwork.
