Two Dynamic Bands in One Night
On August 29, we were thrilled to welcome some of the Hudson Valley’s finest musicians for the fourth installment of our new Global | Local series. Kendra McKinley (Catskill) kicked off the evening with her six-piece band performing a set of almost entirely brand new material. Her groovy, soulful feel and polished, witty vocal delivery — in front of two backing singers — set the tone for the night.
Lady Moon and the Eclipse (Hudson) came on next — first the four-piece rhythm section, and then the three singers, Ngonda Badila (Lady Moon) and her two sisters. Their performance was a cosmic dance party that had attendees up on their feet: a stunning, choreographed display of musical acuity that was equal parts introspective and funky. It was a tremendous night of some of the best music being created in the Hudson Valley.
