DIVE BARN

Produced and directed by Sayer Mansfield

An evening of live dance + music in the Dance Barn Produced and directed by Sayer Mansfield

Back by popular demand, Dive Barn returns to PS21’s Dance Barn on June 21st.

Come take in the summer solstice with an evening of contemporary dance and live music featuring fresh voices from the community and beyond. Set within PS21’s peaceful pastoral lands, Dive Barn invites artist, audience, and nature to share the stage — to stop, witness and celebrate what is here, present, and alive.

The evening is produced and directed by dancer and choreographer Sayer Mansfield (Mark Morris Dance Group, Pilobolus, Compagnie Marie Chouinard, The Metropolitan Opera). Dive Barn is, at its core, an expression of community. It emerges from an established feeling — one built across consecutive Tuesday and Thursday nights in Sayer’s community dance class created in PS21’s Barn — and puts it into form: a chance to witness and applaud members of this community in performance, to make connections, and to gather. In a rural county where it can be hard to establish yourself and find likeminded others, it is a venue for art that nourishes budding community and deepens ties.

The hour-long program features short-form works that highlight the expansive spaces and ideas that characterize PS21 and the region — a moment to discover new voices, visions, and talent, and to engage with thought-provoking work while leaving time before and after to continue the conversation.

Please join us with blankets and picnics. Doors at 4pm, show at 5pm on June 21st. All are welcome.

Groundtone is PS21’s annual weekend-long celebration of adventurous music by an eclectic selection of today’s most original voices. Dazzling performances and immersive experiences take place across the PS21 grounds with concerts in our theater, fields, installations, and barns.

This year’s Groundtone features Sō Percussion, pathbreaking harpist Parker Ramsay, a sunrise musical procession created by Phil Kline, Annea Lockwood’s Home Ground, and a full slate of artists who defy categorization—with many more still to be announced.

Groundtone is four days of audacious music, unexpected collaboration, sound, and community in the PS21 landscape.
