Season-Opening Community Celebration

Please join us for a free, daylong community celebration to kick off the PS21 season.

The day begins at 8:00 am with a guided bird walk led by Columbia County’s esteemed Alan Devoe Bird Club, joined by members of the Feminist Bird Club—an internationally-renowned birding organization that fuses a passion for birding and social justice. Stroll the PS21 grounds and spot phoebes, kestrels, warblers, and more.

At 3:00 pm, return for a community cookout, open to all.

Composer Phil Kline will be on site with a recording studio as he prepares for the world premiere of Force of Nature (June), a new participatory performance to premiere at sunrise on the summer solstice. The work calls for the voices of local youth—so bring your family and help us create this new piece of music.

PS21 staff will be on the grill. Volunteers from our campus cleanup week eat free, and food will be available for purchase for all others. The bar will be open, featuring local beverages and more.

Executive & Artistic Director Vallejo Gantner will share a preview of the season ahead and lead a toast to the start of another summer at PS21.

A special set of live music, curated by PS21, will carry us into the evening.

Please RSVP if you plan on attending.
